short story: Friends No More by Lost Soul

"that's enough Lenny," Dominic tried to

reach the bottle of red horse from her loosening

grip. "You're drunk."

"nope!" She tried to draw the bottle away

from him. but the effect of alcohol on her blood

is already rampant on her system. her reflexes

getting slower. she lost her grip on the bottle

and it shattered into bits and pieces on the

cemented floor.

Oh, she winced. her eyes fixed on the

broken glass. its remaining content spilled on

the floor. bubbles formed... but a few seconds

later they started to burst out and eventually

disappeared.

shit! dominic pulled the tranced woman

away from the liquid spill and broken

bottle. "see, you're really drunk."

her flying consciousness dragged back

into alertness as he shoke her gently. was she

drunk? of course not! because if she's really

drunk, she cannot feel this tearing pain inside

her heart. no, she wasn't drunk yet! how many

bottles was she able to consume? four? six?

seven? the hell she cares! all she wanted to do

right now was to drink... drink... drink... and

drink. drink until her spirit was totally drowned

under the power of liqour.

"let me go!"

Dominic drew a sharp breath. Staring at

her right now with devastating eyes and miserable

reflection, anger started to grow within him.

Damn that bastard! What devil has empowered that

ogre to hurt such an innocent angel like Lenny?

Oh, how he really wanted to crush that freak!

His face softened as his gaze fixed on

her weary eyes. Lenny was dear to him. His

bestfriend since childhood days. His partner in

crime. His sweet little sister. He damned well

knew that he can do nothing to ease her pain. He

didn't know to console her. And he felt useless!

Dominic closed his eyes in frustration.

If he can only take her place and shoulder her

pain... the thought that he vowed to protect her

from all sort of harm made him even more

frustrated.

"Lenny, he whispered her name with

divine gentleness. His eyes roamed around her

pretty face... noting every delicate details.

From her emotional light brown eyes which were

partly covered with dark heavy lashes... to the

small upturned nose... and down to those soft

senasuall parted ruby lips.

Damn! Guiltily, he closed his eyes

fiecely. How shameful of him! But he can feel

something awakening while staring at his dear

little sister's lips! What a lunacy! Man, you can

rot to hell! He silently cursed himself.

For almost ten years that he was with

this sweet lady, he treasured her with utmost

sincerity. Yes, he truly cared for her... valued

her... loved her... loved her like a biological

sister.

He never did think that he can put malice

on the mere contact of their flesh. They were

used to hug each other... to touch each other's

faces... to hold each other's hands. But that was

before... a moment ago to be exact. Because right

now, his hands touching her shoulders exuded

heat... eventually fire! And the devil lurking

within him started to find its way out. And he

was really scared by the thought... or was he

excited?

Lenny too was staring at his eyes

innocently. She was puzzled by the look at his

face. Dominic was her overprotective brother as

usual. And she was really touched by the

overflowing concern on his dark eyes. But the

crease on her forehead appeared as the previous

emotion altered into something different...

she felt guilty for acting like a

helpless lame person. She was always been weak...

and she hated herself for that. For how many had

she acted foolishly and bothered this man for her

sake? He was always been there for her...

protecting, supporting, giving assurance,

affection and courage. He was her fortress... her

pillar of salt... her molder. And she was so

grateful for having him in her life.

But she felt betrayed right now. Her

boyfriend jilted her for another woman. And it

wrecked her self-confidence. Her knees softened

in unbearable pain. She needed to have something

to hold on to or else she would fall on the floor

like a melting ice cream.

Lenny wrapped her arms aroun his neck and

pulled him closer to her to acquire strength.

Only to push him away as their bodies brushed.

Her eyes rounded in bewilderment. It can't be

true, but she was burned by his fiery body at the

contact of their flesh. There was something from

it that stirred her dormant senses. She never

felt that before. And right at this moment, she

was conscious of his undeniable masculine

virility.

Oh, she parted her lips in amazement. She

was trying the hell to fight back his intent

stare. Trying very hard not to fall under his

damned amulet. She knew that this man is drop

dead gorgeous! She was a living witness how women

crazily fall at his feet. And never in her entire

sanity she thought that she would be drawned

towards him with overwhelming attraction.

She swallowed the lump in her throat.

Blinked for a thousand times as his face traveled

closer to hers. A warning rang at the back of her

mind. But it seemed that she was nailed on the

floor. The freash breath that was gently fanning

her face brought a tingling sensations on her

nerves. And the fresh scent of his masculine

cologne made her feel dizzy. Her heart raced with

anticipation as their faces became even closer

and closer.

Dominic damned well knew that what was

going to happen was an extreme form of insanity.

But the hell he would give a damn! The only thing

he was concerned right now is the need inside him

to taste those soft inviting lips. They looked

exquisite to his sinful eyes and he wanted to

taste its sweetness. And when his desire cannot

be pacified anymore, he crossed the line of

friendsip into something more intimate.

Bahala na....

lenny cannot suppress a gasp as his lips

caught hers in a controlled gentle kiss. She was

shocked by the realization. But the kiss created

tremendous emtions that shakened her spirit. Was

this just a mere effect of alcohol?

This can't be

true! But the feeling is so real that every fiber

of her nervous system performed their tasks. And

she cannot believe her own body as desire...

specifically hungry desire started to dominate

her consciousness. And she responded to her kiss

with parallel passion.

His kiss deepend... tasting and searching

every corner of her mouth as he felt her

response. He cannot able to explain the heavenly

feeling due to that kiss. He had kissed numerous

women before but this exhilirating experience was

really different. The feeling was never been this

good. His heart throbbed in happiness.

Oh, she released a muffled groan as he

pulled her even closer to his hard body. The

fiber of their clothings proved futile as a

barrier as their bodies fitted purposely.

They were kissing each other endlessly as

though the air she was breathing came from his

mouth and vice versa. She wouldn't care less. All

she wanted to do was to kiss this man till she

ran out of oxygen.

It seemed that eternity passed. And when

they thought that they would probably die of

suffocation, they freed each others lips. They

were chasing their breathings... coping from the

trancing effect of that magical kiss.

She opened her eyes and their gaze met.

Her mind still cannot function clearly. What has

happened a moment ago? She cannot able to believe

that she and Dominic had just shared an intimate

kiss! Dammit, but it raelly happened.

Her lips were bruised and slightly swollen... what a...

her cheeks turned red as shame struck her modesty.

Dominic was able to read her thoughts.

And when realization both hit them, they dropped

their gaze on the floor and automatically took a

pace backward.

They cannot stare at each others

eyes straightly anymore with ease and comfort

just like before.

And they damned well knew that

at that moment their friendship was already

broken........
